Illinois Wesleyan men’s soccer forward Jeff Graham, a Hinsdale Central graduate, netted the team’s third goal in a 4-1 victory over Augustana Oct. 14 in Rock Island. The senior from Westmont also finished the game with two shots, both on goal.

The goal was Graham’s third of the season. His two shots on goal also gave him 13 through 13 games.

Lake Forest graduate and Colgate women’s soccer midfielder Kelsey Hough assisted on her team’s lone goal in a 1-1 draw against Navy Oct. 12 in Hamilton, N.Y.

Through 15 games, the junior has four assists. That doubles her total from her sophomore season and is good enough for the fourth-best total on the team this season.

Fellow Lake Forest graduate Tommy Rees stepped in for then-No. 7 Notre Dame football team Oct. 13 late in the fourth quarter and led the Irish to a 20-13 overtime victory against then-No. 17 Stanford. Rees completed all four of his pass attempts for 43 yards and a touchdown to help the Irish stay unbeaten. Vernon Hills High School alumnus DaVaris Daniels grabbed two catches for 24 yards in that game as well.

Illinois men’s cross country freshmen Ian Barnett and Tommy King placed third and fourth on the team, respectively, for the Illini in the Wisconsin Invite Oct. 12 in Madison, Wis. Barnett, a Fenwick graduate, took 119th overall in the 8K race with a time of 24 minutes, 23 seconds. King, a New Trier graduate, finished 143rd overall with a time of 24:28. With their help, the Illini finished 24th out of 45 teams.

The team hosted the Illini Open Oct. 19 in Urbana, where Illinois runners Mark Donohue and David Eckhart placed third and fourth overall, respectively. Donohue, a sophomore from Loyola Academy finished the 8K with a time of 26:02. Eckhart, a freshman from Maine South, finished with a time of 26:05

North Shore Country Day School alumna Madeline Tank scored her ninth goal of the season for the Amherst College field hockey team in its 5-1 win against Smith College Oct. 18 in Amherst, Mass.

The Winnetka native put the Lord Jeffs up 3-1 with the goal. She took six shots in the game, all six of which were on goal. Through 12 games, Tank sits third on her team in scoring with 18 points.
