Election matters more than Non-Voter believes

So, are you happy?
Did your candidate win?
The presidential election is over. You know who won. I don’t because I’m writing this before election day.
But I am going to pretend the election is over so I can vent my distaste for one of the campaign’s major ingredients: the Non-Voter.
It’s possible there are people who by election day believe the candidates are indistinguishable, that the election’s outcome will make no difference. It’s possible. But I find it hard to believe.
The presidential campaign has been going on for 11 years. Well, it seems that long.
Newspapers, TV, the Internet, magazines – all forms of communication have been dominated by presidential candidates and their supporters and detractors.
How can anyone have missed this?
Maybe the Non-Voter hasn’t been paying attention. I’ve talked to some, seen others interviewed on TV. A lot of them say they don’t vote because all politicians lie. Others say there are no differences between the candidates.
But to know that all candidates lie and/or that all candidates are the same, the holders of this knowledge must know a lot about the candidates and what policies and solutions they espouse.
It’s too bad the Non-Voter doesn’t let the rest of us dummies in on this. We stumble along thinking there are issues and differences. We then try to see how the candidates’ positions on issues mesh with our own beliefs.
But the Non-Voter knows better. How? He just knows politicians lie because they all lie. And, oh yes, they’re all the same.
It’s kind of a shame these people are citizens, just like those who do the work of citizens by voting.
But, this is the U.S. and even they have rights, even though they choose not to exercise those rights.
Well, whether they vote or not, the election is over. And that means one of three outcomes:
1. This is the dawn of a great day for America;
2. This is one of the darkest days in American history;
3. It doesn’t matter – if the Non-Voter is right.
It’s outcome No. 3 that I fear the most.
