EVANSTON

Results of this year’s analysis by the Chicago Sun-Times ranks Evanston Township High School as one of the top 50 high schools in the state.

The 2012 report cards include student scores on the Prairie State Achievement Exam and ACTs, demographic information on students and teachers, and financial information on school districts. School report cards are available on the Illinois State Board of Education website (isbe.net/).

The findings underscore other rankings in which ETHS is found to be one of the top high schools nationally. This year, the Washington Post published a report called the “Challenge Index” that takes the number of seniors who graduated in May or June divided by the total number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year.

Similarly, U.S. News & World Report and the American Institutes for Research assessed how well high schools are preparing students for college-level work by considering their performance in AP and IB programs. In both instances, reports place ETHS in the top 2 percent of the country’s 22,000 high schools.

More information about the national reports can be found online from the Washington Post and U.S. News & World Report. The ETHS 2012-13 School Profile provides comparative data about the high school’s ACT and SAT test scores, as well as information about college attendance rate.
