The school board’s Regular Meeting will be Oct. 22. Public session begins at 7 p.m. in the Board Room of the JEH Education Center, 1500 McDaniel Avenue, Evanston. Interim bilingual coordinator
The Board of Education formally approved the appointment of Lauren Leitao as the Interim Bilingual Coordinator. Leitao was appointed to fill the position after Concepcion Calderon accepted the Interim Principal appointment at Lincoln Elementary School.
Leitao brings to her position her prior experience as an ESL resource teacher, principal at Orchard Place Elementary School, and ELL Instructional Specialist, all in Des Plaines. Leitao holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration and MA in Curriculum and Instruction from National-Louis University, and holds a Michigan State University Bachelor of Arts in Social Relations with concentration in Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
Parent-teacher conferences
Students are not in attendance for the fall Parent-Teacher Conference Day on Oct. 19. Conferences may have been held earlier in the week or on this day. Families who have questions about parent-teacher conferences are encouraged to call their child’s school. School phone numbers are available on the web at http://www.district65.net/Schools.
PTA Council
PTA Council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 24 at the Joseph E. Hill Education Center, 1500 McDaniel Avenue, Evanston. The Evanston/Skokie Council of PTAs is the umbrella association for all school PTAs and PTSAs in the area served by School Districts 65 and 202. Council member schools include elementary, middle, and magnet schools; Park School and Evanston Township High School. The Evanston/Skokie Council is an active member of District 21 of the Illinois State PTA, which allows for the exchange of ideas with other PTA councils in north suburban Cook County and around the state.
Lincoln School
Lincoln School Family Fall Fest In keeping with all the changes at Lincoln School, the traditional springtime event “Laps for Lincoln” is moving to a new season, with a new name. Join the school on Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for games, prizes, food and fun to celebrate fall, the new school, and the Lincoln community. A special ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the school’s new addition, with school tours and information will also be held.
Washington School
Washington School Courageous Conversations takes place Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.
Oakton School
Family Friday is hosted by Oakton School on Oct. 26 from 9:05-9:25 a.m.
