EVANSTON — A 27-year-old man broke into a Walgreens twice to steal cigarettes, police said.

Matthew A. Long, of the 700 block of Hinman Avenue, Evanston, was arrested Saturday and charged with two counts of burglary, Evanston police said.

The Walgreens, at 635 Chicago Ave., was burglarized in the early morning hours of Oct. 11 and 12, and in both instances cigarettes were stolen, police said.

Detectives determined Long, a nearby resident, broke a window with a hammer to enter the store, police said.

Long is expected to be in court Nov. 7 in Skokie.
