Evanston police blotter for the week of Aug. 18, 2012

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court, Skokie, unless indicated otherwise.

ASSAULT

A man threatened to punch his victim around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday in an on-street incident on the 900 block of Washington Street.

BURGLARY

A silver Tiffany necklace, crystal vase and a white tea cup with purple flowers were stolen between July 27 and Aug. 6 from an apartment on the 700 block of Michigan Avenue.

A three-page letter from a woman, two wine glasses, a sewing machine and a personal painting were stolen from an apartment between 2:09 p.m. and 6:09 p.m. Tuesday on the 1100 block of Hull Terrace.

An orange Trek bicycle equipped with a black rear rack was stolen from an unlocked residential garage between noon Sunday and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on the 700 block of Central Street.

THEFT

A locked black and red Giant road bicycle was stolen from a rack around 5 p.m. Tuesday on the 600 block of South Boulevard.

An unlocked silver and purple Magnum mountain bike with missing pedals was stolen from the yard of a single-family home around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday on the 700 block of Reba Place. The bike was equipped with a bicycle clock on the handlebars.

Some hair straighteners were stolen from an unlocked barber or beauty shop around 12:35 p.m. Tuesday on the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue.

RETAIL THEFT

Five sandwiches and some chicken salad were stolen around 9:55 p.m. Monday from a grocery store on the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue.

OBSTRUCTING

Michael A. Chinn, 40, of 1735 1/2 Darrow Ave., Evanston, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday on the block and charged with obstructing police. He is due in court Aug. 31.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

Eric Wilson, 51, 3307 Charlemagne Ave. in south suburban Hazel Crest, was arrested at 5:38 p.m. Monday at 1925 Hartrey Ave. and charged with criminal trespass to land. He is due in court Aug. 22.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Someone damaged the front door window of an apartment around 1:47 p.m. Tuesday on the 800 block of Florence Avenue.
