Evanston police issued roughly 120 citations and made four DUI arrests during a specialized traffic enforcement initiative held over St. Patrick’s Day weekend, the department announced today.

Police conducted the high visibility enforcement watch over St. Patrick’s Day weekend, from March 14th through yesterday.

Along with the DUI arrests, the other citations included:

• No Seat Belt: 56

• Reckless Driving: 1

• Suspended Driver’s License: 3

• Improper Cell Phone use: 11

• Speeding: 13

• No Insurance: 9

Other Vehicle Code Violations: 23

Extra emphasis was given to late-night hours, police said, as statistics show the highest number of motorists drink and drive along with the fewest motorists buckling up during this time of day.

Police concluded that the operation a successful one with no reported traffic crashes within the city during the enforcement period.~.
