EVANSTON — A north suburban man initially arrested March 7 for harassing a man for money has now been charged with robbing a beauty salon.
Andre D. Shearer, 43, of the 200 block of Custer Avenue in Evanston is charged with burglary, assault, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Evanston police.
Shearer was arrested about 12:40 p.m. Thursday after harassing a man for money and threatening bodily harm if he didn’t receive it, police said.
But police determined Shearer matched the description of a suspect captured on video stealing a television, video player and hair extensions from a beauty shop in the 700 block of Howard Street on Feb. 17, Evanston police said.
Shearer admitted his connection in the burglary, police said. He was already on parole for burglary.
Shearer is being held on a $50,000 bond and his next court date is set for Tuesday in Skokie, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.
