A 26-year-old Chicago man was arrested and charged with drug offenses and a firearm’s offense, after a special Evanston Police Department unit executed a search Tuesday on his west Rogers Park residence.

The suspect, Marwan Rahim, of 2920 W. Pratt Ave., in Chicago, was taken into custody and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, a Class 3 felony, unlawful possession of marijuana, a Class 4 felony; unlawful possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor; and possession of a firearm without a valid Firearms Owner Identification card, a Class A misdemeanor.

He is scheduled to appear Dec. 13 in Cook County 2nd Municipal District Court.

Members of Evanston’s Special Operations group executed a search warrant on November 27th in the 2900 block of West Pratt Ave., in Chicago’s west Rogers Park neighborhood, said Cmdr. Jay Parrott, the department’s media information officer. Evanston detectives became aware of illegal drug sales taking place in Evanston, Skokie and Rogers Park, he said.

Their investigation resulted in a search warrant for the suspect, along with his residence and vehicle, which they ended up seizing, he said. Parrott said the department’s new canine team was active when police executed the warrant.
