SKOKIE — Working women on the go have a new destination for fashion in Skokie as retail chain Ann Taylor recently debuted at Old Orchard Mall.

The chic women’s boutique is the brand’s third newly designed store in the Chicago area.

District Manager Christina Roth said ladies locally would benefit from Ann Taylor’s focus on stress-free shopping and range of products.

“The women of Chicago embody the Ann Taylor woman — they are busy, modern, working women of substance and style,” she said. “The new concept stores will give them more options and easier shopping for styles that fit their busy lives, from day to night, workday to weekend.”

Ann Taylor, founded nearly 60 years ago in Connecticut, specializes in classic women’s suits, separates and shoes.

The brand also has a special wedding line of dresses, attire and accessories for brides, bridesmaids and honeymooners.

Roth said the company evolved over the years to “meet women’s changing needs, aspirations and roles.”

“Today Ann Taylor is defined by a unique balance of fashion and work for women of substance and style across every generation,” she said.

On its local-fan list are celebrated fashion icons First Lady Michelle Obama and singer/actress Kate Hudson.

The Skokie shop features the brand’s new vision.

Inspired by high-luxury living, Ann Taylor sought to create an intimate shopping experience that feels less like a chore and more like a visit to stylish friend’s home.

Maple hardwood floors, crystal chandeliers and modern tufted furniture greet shoppers. Dressing rooms are cozy, too, featuring floral wall coverings, luxe ottomans, plush carpeting and a new proprietary lighting system with backlit mirrors.

The retailer rolled out the revamped look for the interior of its stores in Deer Park last summer.

The past March the new concept was introduced among its high-end shopping peers along Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

Ann Taylor has other suburban locations in Northbrook Court, Wheaton Town Square, Oakbrook Center, Naperville’s Main Place, Geneva Commons and Orland Park Crossing.
