Evanston police blotter for Jan. 27, 2012

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court, Skokie, unless indicated otherwise.
BURGLARY
Someone broke the rear kitchen window of a single-family home Thursday and stole an Apple laptop computer, some money and Apple iTunes gift cards. The burglary occurred sometime between 11:45 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the 1500 block of Greenwood Street.
THEFT
Someone stole white metal downspouts after removing them from a residential garage around 11:17 a.m. Jan. 21 on the 1200 block of Fowler Avenue.
ALCOHOL
Meredith W. Dehass, 19, of 1735 Chicago Ave., Evanston, and Hannah K. Weiss, 19, of 1735 Chicago Ave., Evanston, were arrested at 8 p.m. Thursday at Evanston 1st Liquors, 1019 Davis St., and charged with illegal possession of liquor by a minor. They are due in court Feb. 7.
RETAIL THEFT
Peter Popovic, 36, of 9250 Washington Ave., Niles, was arrested at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Home Depot, 2301 Oakton St., and charged with retail theft of recessed lighting canisters. He is due in court March 16.
