Evanston police blotter for Jan. 20, 2012

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court, Skokie, unless indicated otherwise.
BATTERY
A man pushed a door, knocking the victim backward around 4 p.m. Wednesday at Dawes Elementary School, on the 400 block of Dodge Avenue.
RETAIL THEFT
Some Snickers candy bars were stolen by two males and a female around 8:10 a.m. Thursday at a service station on the 100 block of Ridge Avenue.
A VTech V electronic reader and other children’s items and toys were stolen around noon Jan. 13 from a business place on the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue.
THEFT
A coat was stolen from a locker room at the LA Fitness athletic club around 7:46 p.m. Wednesday on the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue.
Some gutters were stolen from a resident’s garage some time between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 1500 block of Fowler Avenue.
DUI
Victor J. Torres, 24, of 812 Hartrey Ave., Evanston, was arrested at 11:32 p.m. Wednesday at Dempster Street and Dodge Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He is due in court March 1.
