There was a buzz in the air at the Highland Park Country Club on Sunday Sept. 9 where 200 guests gathered to raise funds for New Foundation Center and celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The evening featured silent auction items and chances to “win” valuable prizes, including an ABT-donated MacBook Air and a stay on beautiful Sanibel Island. Todd Budnik, volunteer auctioneer, helped to raise nearly $22,000 in the service auction.

The event raised over $125,000 to support programs and services that help adults with mental illness to recover. The Peterson and Katz families were honored for their long-term support along with Carol Towne one of the founders.

New Foundation Center offers adults with serious mental illness permanent supportive housing, employment supports, skills training, and social networks in a recovery focused setting. The mission is “to partner with people with mental illness to recover and pursue lives of meaning and purpose.” It is supported by government funds, user fees and contributions from the community.

New Foundation Center is located at 444 W. Frontage Road, Northfield, IL 60093-3009, (847) 501-2939, www.wilpower.org.
