YWCA Evanston/North Shore joins the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge

The YWCA Evanston/North Shore was chosen to be a part of the Purple Purse Challenge to raise awareness for domestic violence. Below is a press release with more information:

New research from The Allstate Foundation confirms domestic violence affects 1 in 4 women in her lifetime. Ninety eight percent of these women will also suffer financial abuse, often indicating whether they will stay, leave or return to an abusive relationship. To raise awareness for domestic violence and the role finances play in helping survivors break free from abuse, The Allstate Foundation has created the Purple Purse Challenge to encourage Americans to contribute to organizations in their local communities.

The Allstate Foundation selected the YWCA Evanston/North Shore as one of more than 140 participating charities across the country to be a part of the Purple Purse Challenge. The YWCA Evanston/North Shore was selected for its commitment to providing services to domestic violence survivors. All donations collected will benefit this cause.

From Tuesday, September 2 through Friday, October 3, the YWCA Evanston/North Shore is competing with other organizations to raise the most money through Crowdrise. The Allstate Foundation provides incentive matches along the way, culminating in a grand prize of $100,000. To donate now, please visit Crowdrise.

Weekly Contests Include:
• Sept. 3 – Sept. 9: If the YWCA can raise at least $250, they are entered to win $10,000
• Sept. 9 – Sep. 16: If the YWCA gets five donations, they are entered to win $10,000
• Sept. 23 – Sept. 30: If the YWCA is one of the first three organizations to raise $1,000 from 10 donors, they will win $5,000
• Sept. 30 – Oct. 3: If the YWCA gets the greatest number of donations, they will win $10,000

In addition, the 5 organizations that raise the most money overall will receive prizes ranging in value from $10,000 to $100,000.

Supporters can donate from Sept. 2 through Oct. 3, 2014.
