Evanston police followed up a call of a flashlight illuminated inside a vehicle, arresting a 57-year-old Evanston man on a burglary charge Sunday.
Police responded to the call at approximately 11:10 p.m. of an individual inside a vehicle in the 1100 block of Maple Avenue, said Cmdr. Jay Parrott, department spokesperson.
Further investigation revealed that the man had been rummaging through the vehicle’s center console and glove compartment in an attempt to look for valuables while the vehicle was parked in the victim’s driveway, Parrott sad.
He said it was determined from the vehicle owner that the suspect had in his possession coins taken from the vehicle, said Parrott.
Arrested was Stephen A. Craig, 57, of 1458 Chicago Ave. Craig was charged with burglary, a Class 2 felony.
He is due in Cook County 2nd District Court Aug. 22.
