1. Free Access to Fishing, 10 a.m. Aug. 9

Children ages 5 and older are invited to join in this free fishing day sponsored by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. All fishing is catch-and-release. Equipment, bait and fishing expertise are provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Lovelace Park, Gross Point Road and Thayer Street, Evanston.

2. ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ 8 p.m. Aug. 16

An outdoor screening of the classic 1930s musical. Elks Play Lot Park, Callan Avenue and Mulford Street, Evanston.

3. ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22

Join Muse of Fire Theatre this summer for the most famous love story in the English language, “Romeo and Juliet.” The production is directed by Jemma Alix Levy. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22-24 and Aug. 29 and 30. Evanston Public Library – Main Branch, 1703 Orrington Ave., Evanston.
