The TS Alliance of Greater Chicago held its annual Step Forward to Cure TSC at Ty Warner Park in Westmont.
The May 31 event attracted 250 walkers who came out to support patients and raise money for Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, a genetic disease that is the leading cause of epilepsy and autism. Benign but potentially damaging growths form in major organs of the body, including skin, brain, eyes, lungs, and kidneys.
This year’s theme was Super Heroes. Individuals, families, friends and supporters were encouraged to participate dressed like their favorite hero, be it a cartoon character, professional or mentor.
The event raised over $50,494 for the group.
