Evanston extends towing contract

The city has extended its long-running relationship with North Shore Towing.

On July 28, aldermen approved a one-year renewal with the company to provide towing and other related services at a cost of $44,982.

Over the years, the towing company has performed well, said Alderman Ann Rainey, in whose 8th Ward the company is located.

North Shore proposed that there would be no adjustment to the existing pricing, city Parking Manager Rickey Voss said.

Alderman Jane Grover noted that the towing company, not the city, is responsible for the fee structure residents are charged recovering vehicles after tow. The city does receive the ticket revenue in such situations.

North Shore has provided the city towing services for more than 34 years, officials said.
