27th Annual Spring Benefit Art Auction raises $45,000 for Evanston Art Center

The Evanston Art Center, Board of Trustees and Event Chairman Linda Beck recently hosted a closing night gala for the 27th Annual Spring Benefit Art Auction.

With over 250 guests in attendance, the event netted $45,000 in art sales and donations that will provide art education, exhibitions and other outreach programs to the community, such as Art VanGo. The art-loving public had an opportunity to view and bid on paintings, drawings, photographs, ceramics, sculpture, prints, and other artworks donated by over 110 Chicago-area artists including Jill King, Jane Fulton Alt, Susan Sensemann, Didier Nolet, Larry Chait and Eleanor Spiess-Ferris.

Michael Davis of Hart Davis Hart Wine Co conducted the live auction of eight works. Executive Director Norah Diedrich served as artistic commentator. The Gala Committee included Linda Beck, Karen Hunt, Momi Jahn, Elaine Kemna-Irish, Karen Ribbon, Eleanor Spiess-Ferris and Art Williams.

In addition to the silent and live art auctions, the May 17 gala featured a raffle, wine, refreshments, hors d’oeuvres and dinner, donated by Karen Hunt.

The Evanston Art Center, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization, is dedicated to fostering the appreciation and expression of the arts among diverse audiences. The Art Center offers extensive and innovative instruction in broad areas of artistic endeavor through classes, exhibition, interactive arts activities and community outreach initiatives.
