Police probe shots fired on Brown Avenue

Shots were fired early Monday morning at a residence on the 1900 block of Brown Avenue, where a fatal shooting occurred slightly more than a week before.

Police responded to the call just after 1 a.m. Investigators recovered residue indicating four bullet holes in the front of the residence, said Cmdr. Jay Parrott, department spokesman.

On June 22, Evanston resident Alfred Norman, 22, was shot multiple times while driving an SUV on the block, and crashed into a tree. Police are expected to have a heavier presence at Norman’s funeral, which is scheduled today. That shooting remains under investigation, Parrott said.
