Services planned for former Evanston alderman

Services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 9, for Maxine Horn Lange, who was long involved in community affairs as a teacher, health care administrator and Evanston alderman.

Services will be at 11 a.m., at the Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation, at 303 Dodge Ave. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorials in her memory be made to the JRC, the Evanston Community Foundation or Planned Parenthood.

Ms. Lange served as alderman of Evanston’s 9th Ward from 1971 through 1979, according to city records.

After leaving the council, Ms. Lange, a Democrat, also backed other candidates’ successful runs for office, including Abner J. Mikva’s Congressional campaigns.
