EVANSTON — snow removal crews waited out the storm and now are poised to hit the streets to clear them in time for rush hour.
Officials said the heaviest of the snow accumulation is over, they are expecting light flurries on and off until midnight.
As of 6:45 p.m., 1.7 inches of snow was measured in the Public Works yard, at 2020 Asbury Ave.
The city’s public works crews had just conducted their shift change and the overnight crew will begin the cleanup process.
Officials expect to have all the main and secondary roads clear and side streets passable for the morning rush hour.
They expect cleanup to continue Friday on residential streets.
Friday’s forecast calls for partly sunny weather with temperatures in the low to mid 30s. Saturday will be sunny in the mid to upper 30s and Sunday into the 40s.
There are no parking restrictions expected at this time.
