Free flapjacks fuel annual IHOP fundraiser

Few things in life are as comforting as a warm plate of morning flapjacks.
For the seventh consecutive year, IHOP restaurants nationwide are fostering good feelings by giving guests a free short stack on National Pancake Day, Feb. 28, in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., local IHOP diners are invited to make a voluntary donation to Children’s Memorial Hospital of Chicago as they enjoy the chain’s popular buttermilk pancakes.
This year IHOP aims to raise $2.7 million to support network hospitals’ research and training programs, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
Since beginning its National Pancake Day in 2006, IHOP and its diners have given nearly $8 million to local charities.
